Archival Inkjet on Paper

STATEMENT

We are born with the ability to read a face.  As we grow up it develops into a complex, yet dependable way in which we recognize and assess each other’s emotional and physical states of being. In working with action figures I have been fascinated by the intricate expressions carved into their plastic heads. Even though they have no emotions or thoughts we automatically assign thoughts and emotions to them because we are evolutionarily programmed to do so. These grids are to be read as taxonomies of those simulated personalities.
